im looking at BKG's chris pacana this guy knows how to defend and will be a very big help especially when ryan is not around… are we picking at no 5? cause if we are i dont think jervy cruz will still be available at that point…. james sena will be a good candidate if he can join this year's draft….

i like crisano,he's an intense player although not a defensive gem but his physical presence would definitely give us boost down low.

hans thiele is available for the draft and we could snatch him at 2nd round.

james sena is still pondering in entering the draft or stay another year in d NCAA, if he'll enter d draft he could be our best possible pick if we cant get jervy or rico.

gerwin gaco could be an available free agent

dylan ababou will not be in d draft since he's committed to Smart Gilas

i dont know anything bout john wilson, if he can play team defense he'll be a good addition

another thing that we surely miss besides a legitimate bigman is reliable outside shooter.this season SLR struggles when d opposition goes for zone defense. the team needs a zone buster that can free up the big guys down low. Vanlandingham and that Francis Allera guy can be an option in the draft

Heres my lineup suggestion :

Keep Kelly, Bitoy, Joseph, Kelvin, Ryan and Denok

For Guards :

Jonas Villanueva or Pong Escobal

John Wilson ( if available in draft )

For Forwards/Center :

Alex Crisano or Rob Reyes

Hans Thiele ( if available in draft )

Dylan Ababou ( if available in draft )

Jame Sena ( if available in draft )

Gerwin Gaco ( if available )

pong can be a good backup point guard but i dont know about his defensive capabilities.if he can play defense he should fit in well since SLR's system is built on defense.coronel is still a good back up though minus his tendency to commit stupid fouls.i just hope SLR would try to trade up the draft board to get MAierhofer. i really feel this guy can fit very well sa pressing defense SLR used to play last season.medyo nawala this season since many key guys that were cornerstone of that type of defense were injured.this guy can fill william's position and slide kelly to small forward the position where i think kelly would be more suited

Another PG option will be Pong Escobal, TNT is full of PG and Pong is not used in the rotation, they already have alapag and castro. Agree w/ u that Rob Reyes could also be a talent that may be wasted if not used. In the coming draft, I would guess that SLR will be picking either 5th or 6th, not sure if James Sena or other big men will be available.

norman gonzales is still a serviceable bench players plus he's still got hoops sa defense. it will be hard to hatch a trade for villanueva.SMB's gearing him to be olsen's successor. Eman would be easier to get since SMB's frontline is loaded with talent. Rafi Reavis is injury prone, but at 6'8 plus his defensive wing span are good defensive attributes which are too good to ignore. he'll be a welcome addition to the team. I love Holper's intensity and defensive on ball capability but the team should try Rob Reyes. i think this guy is an upgrade of Rafi Reavis. his full of intensity plus he rebounds very well

Additionally, they can also add Norman G in next years line up. They can also try getting the following : Jonas Villanueva, good back up for Denok and from FEU also. Raffy, Holper or Eman as the big men.

Agree to keep Kelly, Ryan, Bitoy, Denok and Joseph as core of the group. They need 1 – 2 mobile big men who can play defense as well as score when needed.

They can opt to keep Kelvin and Dennis and select the rest of the team from FA or rookie draft. Management should think on building 10 good players not only 5.

So what’s next for our favorite team? There are many areas
of concern that must be address in order to remain as a contender next season.

· The management should start negotiating to
retain the core of the team-williams, yeo and omolon. One big weakness that
should be address is the lack of quality bench players which is very evident
this conference. Injuries to key players really dampened our chances for the
crown that could have been different if we had bench firepower. It seems that
SLR management has been left behind by other teams in the league’s arms race.
The management has to review their roster and salary cap space. Mamaclay,
Jaime, Butel any of these guys can’t even keep their minutes because of their
lack of defense. Coach Boyet’s system is built on defense. It’s a “you can’t
get in if you don’t play defense” type of system. SLR mngt should look at free
agents that can fit to this system. Just a note Kelvin Gregorio had some nice
games when given minutes notably against SMB in the 1st round in AFC.
He rebounds and hustles for the ball and is a decent defender in the post but
lacks lateral movement guarding guys who plays the #3 position

· The veterans Espino, Mendoza and Aquino are
showing their age. They not performing as they should be on crucial games.
Mendoza and Aquino notably are underachieving. Mendoza is very inconsistent in his shooting
and is a handicap on defense. Aquino is 6’9 but he struggles in getting
rebounds. These guys takes a lot of chunk of the salary space of the team. It’s
logical to let go or trade any of these guys to free up salary space. Maybe its
time to move on and get younger guys around the core – Williams, yeo, omolon,
miranda and reyes.

· The draft would be a nice way to infuse young
blood to the team. Jervy Cruz , Rico Maierhofer, Terrel Teophile or James Sena
will answer SLR’s pressing need of a bigman or SLR will opt for a zone buster
in Josh Vanlandingham or a potent scorer off the bench in Ogie Menor. SLR can
also trade their pick for a current defensive center like Eman or Rob Reyes.
These guys are wasted talents on their current teams. They should fit very well
in a defensive system like Coach Boyet’s
