Player’s note: Described by many as a physical type of playmaker who loves to defend against opposing guards even on big men. Coronel, known to his solid upper-built, can also shoot from the three-point arc and attack the basket.
Boyet Fernandez, the Sta. Lucia head coach, chose Coronel to be the third guy in the point guard rotation after Dennis Miranda and rookie Ryan Reyes.
Coronel has a big fighting heart to accept any challenges. He is an expert of the pick-and-roll and backdoor plays during his amateur days. His timely passes proved to be effective during his NCAA and PBL days.
Coronel, 27, played for Toyota Otis in the PBL before he received a call from Sta. Lucia Realty management.

Defining Moments: Coronel scored 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the three-point zone with two steals and two rebounds in 15 minutes of action in his debut last October 17, 2007. Sta. Lucia Realty lost to Purefoods, 89-96, in that game.
More about the player: Coronel almost made it to the Ginebra roster in 2006, but he was cut in the last minute that made him returned in the PBL.
Before Sta. Lucia Realty tapped him, Coronel was already practicing for the SEA Games-bound RP Basketball team. He did not let the opportunity to pass away, when he immediately went to Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall to try his luck.
